Q. How long has Mease Manor been in existence?
A. We were opened in 1964 and will celebrate our 47th anniversary in 2011.
Q. I have heard a lot about “CCRC’s” on the news and some are having financial trouble, what can you tell me about the financial strength of Mease Manor?
A. Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) are closely regulated in the State of Florida by the Office of Insurance Regulations. Florida has some of the toughest regulations in the country for retirement communities. We undergo inspections tri-annual inspections from the state and other parts of the community such as Mease Continuing Care are surveyed on an annual basis. Mease Manor is a single site community meaning we a locally owned and operated as a not for profit and are not part of a large chain. Our financial decisions are made by a Board of Trustees in consultation with many financial experts in the field. Mease Manor is very financially stable and will continue to be with careful growth and investment in the future.
Q. What makes now the right time to move to Mease Manor
A. We often hear, “I am just not ready.” We encourage people to make the move to Mease Manor while you can still enjoy all that active retirement living has to offer. Q. I understand that you have a membership and a lease program. I understand that leasing is just going with a month to month lease and I can cancel with a 30 day notice, what is the membership option?
A. Our membership option allows you to become a member with a up front payment which decreases your monthly payments. Membership also provides two long term benefits to plan for your security into the future. Your membership gives you a 10 percent discount from the current published rate for assisted living should you need to move to that level of care. The biggest benefit of membership is we will not ask you to leave the community should you deplete your assets through no fault of your own. You will never have to leave Mease Manor. The best way to understand membership to to speak with someone in our sales office for a more specific conversation about how your can benefit from membership.
Q. What happens if I fall or become ill in my apartment?
A. This is another reason that living at Mease Manor gives you peace of mind. We have a couple way that we can help. First, we have nurses available for emergencies 24 hours a day. If you can call the front desk a nurse will be sent to your apartment immediately to assess your situation. The second option is our emergency “off the hook” feature within our phone system. You can simply knock the phone off the hook and someone will be sent to your apartment. Third, we have a contract with a vendor to provide medical alert pendants that are monitored and help can be sent right away. Emergency medical services can usually respond in under 5 minutes and we are located next door to Morton Plant Mease Hospital.
